About Us
Molly & Ray Lee, Founders and Farmers
Our farm name originates from our partner business, Troubadour Hoofcare & Metalworks, named such after multiple moves around the Midwest and a nod to Ray's grandfather's nickname for himself.
With animal agriculture central to their shared background and careers (Molly is a veterinarian and educator, and Ray is a farrier and orthotist/prosthetist), we knew farming would somehow be an important part of our lives. After 5 years of gardening and tending laying hens here in Ames, but many more years of dreaming of something more, we established the farm as an LLC in May 2020.
Since then, we've continued to grow, expanding into honeybees, purchasing more land, acquiring (and repairing!) equipment, adding local markets to our direct-to-consumer sales, and much more.
In every decision, we endeavor to embody the One Health concept by supporting healthy people, healthy animals, and a healthy environment.
Our Commitment
We believe in local agriculture as an important contributor to food security and public health and supporting fellow small and beginning farmers as an important piece of this puzzle. To that end, we are working towards making the world a better, more beautiful place, beginning right here in Ames, Iowa, while learning and having fun along the way!
